Gamercamp and IndieCade Debrief: Couch Multiplayer Games Unite!

The dust has finally settled from IndieCade and Gamercamp and we’re back to work. So apparently people really like crowding around a television and playing in a group. Sometimes when you’re developing a game you don’t know what elements people are going to really cling to.

Read about our experience at IndieCade and Gamecamp over on our IndieDB page!

Hey there tumblr!  Marty here, tech lead on Runbow!  Currently mucking about with some interesting new color transitions to spice things up in the game when I happened upon this little number.  Figured I’d offer a glimpse of our dev process and the sort of nonsense I have the pleasure of dealing with on a daily basis. Hopefully this will be the first of many dev screenshots going forward.  Keep an eye out for more peeks into our process, and more news on Runbow’s development!

So we are pleased to announce that Runbow will be a part of this year’s IndieCade festival as part of Nintendo’s Demonstration Area.

The game will be playable in all its 9-Player glory on the Wii U, and we will be running tournaments and giving away shirts and hugs all weekend long.

If you need to find us, we’ll be the two loud guys who are probably smiling uncontrollably.

See you there!

Gamercamp!

We’re happy to announce that Runbow will be featured at this year’s Gamercamp at Hotel Ocho in Toronto. The festival takes place October 17th, 18th, 19th at Hotel Ocho (195 Spadina Ave, just north of Queen, west side).

According to their website:

Gamercamp is an annual festival for game lovers of all ages, celebrating the best in videogames.
The festival offers inspiring talks, original exhibitions, presentations, gameplay sessions, demos, films, and arcades showcasing the depth and talent of the North American games community.

According to us:

Gamercamp is a lot of fun. Like, a LOT of fun. We’ll see you there!

All Work and No Play Means New Runbow Content

Dave here. We’re hard at work getting Runbow ready for a bunch of events coming up, all of which we can start gossiping about very shortly, I promise.

But while the rumour mill churns, you can slake your thirst with our new press kit, which is complete with tons of new character art, screenshots, and our sweet trailer. Start decorating yours and all your friends’ computers with the Runbow wallpapers, because you don’t want to be the last kid on the block whose 486 is all clunked out with some outdated art.

High-res desktop wallpapers will be coming soon and a new trailer, so stay tuned.

13AM Games: Working hard at having fun.

Hey guys, Alex here from 13AM Games making our (belated) first tumblr post about our game Runbow. Here is our newest trailer for the game.

What makes Runbow unique is how it treats color. You see, each platform you jump on is colored and those same colors are constantly swiping through the background. If a platform color and background color matchup, the platform ceases to exist! So if a blue platform sits on a blue blackground, that blue platform is gone! I’ll detail how it works in a later post.

For now, I’ll just list out some of the features of Runbow that we will talk about in future posts:

- 8-player local multiplayer. (Yes, 8)
- Hundreds of levels.
- Character costumes.
- Unique color mechanic
- Multiple game modes
- Unlockables
- Single-player
- Power-ups

… and much more!

Stay tuned!
